Non Meal-point options

Even with all the options, at some point dorm food is going to lose all interest with your taste buds and your digestive system. Luckily there are plenty of other food options on and around campus. The closest non meal-point options are located in the EMU. As a student first walks in the main entrance from the fishbowl, the first option they will have to their right is "The Grateful Bread." This is a popular coffee shop, serving up fresh baked bread, pastries, coffee, and other assorted goodies.

Next choice right around the corner is the ever popular "Subway." Trademarked by their scent of fresh-baked Italian rolls. Often times a favorite, because it’s open later than the other non meal-point options in the EMU. Keep walking around the corner and then we find "Jamba-Juice." The staff here CampuSearch agrees that the Jamba-Juice is quite possibly the best smoothie bar ever. A little extra twist however is that this Jamba-Juice doubles as a pizza parlor, serving up fresh baked pizza. So, choice from the numerous smoothie flavors, add a boost, and grab a big slice of New York style pizza.

It wouldn’t be Eugene, if there wasn’t a little tofu in there somewhere, so that’s where "Holy Cow" comes into the picture. The Holy Cow serves up nothing but organic, vegetarian foods. However you don’t need to be a Vegetarian to enjoy the wonders of this hidden secrete. The Holy Cow is definitely worth checking out, whether you are feeling carnivorous or not. That’s it for the food court upstairs, however the EMU houses one more hidden secrete.

If one happens to stubble down the stairs you will find your self relatively close to the buzz coffee shop. Need a cup of joe, a quiet place to study, a good place to meet a date for the first time, your in luck. The buzz is a unique place, judging by the fact that they have a great atmosphere. One aspect that seems to draw a lot of attention is their open mic nights. Times and dates will often change, so check the glass doors for updates or new postings. That’s it for options within the EMU, however the buck doesn’t stop there.

If you head down toward 13th ave. there are plenty more options. Right across from the UO bookstore is Taylor’s, a popular bar. So if your interested in a pint and some corn nuts your in luck. Further down 13th ave is a sushi bar, a noodle bar called hoodgepoodge, and the last two locations on the right hand side are Starbucks and Quizno’s subs. Now, as for food options other than the EMU and 13th ave. check out our restaurant guide linked from our homepage for further details.
