There are several areas around the campus where students that are on the meal point system can eat. Options for food can range from burgers, to pizza to buffet style eating. Hammys, Common Grounds, and Grab n Go are a favorite among students and all three are conveniently located inside the Hamilton complex.
Hammys is a burger joint with a 50s theme. Students can get a burger, fries, and a drink for around 6 points. Common Grounds is a café that serves sandwiches, coffee, and fruit smoothies. This was a new addition to this year, and is very busy at all hours. Sometimes students complain about the wait that they have to endure just to get there food, however it seems to provide them with more freedom from cafeteria food. A common meal at the café will probably cost about 7 points for a Sandwich and a smoothie The staff here at CampuSearch recommend the soup-in-a-bread bowl.
Grab n Go is like a mini 7-Eleven. It has food that is commonly found in a students refrigerators. Dont worry, they have plenty of Ramen noodles. Not only does the Grab n Go offer packaged food, they also have a daily salad bar, and wrap station for more variety. If a student has left over points at the end of the week, students can go to grab and go and stock up on food for their dorm rooms just as they were to get food by grocery shopping.
Pizzanos is another favorite place to go and it is located in the Bean West complex. Pizzanos serves pizza and salad. During lunch, students can purchase a pizza buffet for 5 points. That gives the student all the pizza and salad that the student wants. During the dinner hours students can purchase pizzas just like at a normal pizza place.
And for the most bang for your buck, the University offers cafeteria style dining in the Carson complex. Carson is the biggest dining area on campus. The Carson dining complex serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The buffet style eating is the cheapest way to go at only 5 points a meal and students get all the food and drink that one can stomach.
And las t but not least is a little University secrete. The Underground Café is not very well known around campus because it is located so far away from the other meal point dinning options. The Underground Café is located right across from the EMU, and offers similar items as the Common Grounds Café. This is often a nice place to go and grab a bite to eat while studying, or just trying to avoid the crowds.
